Small Black Insects In Stool

Jedediah Berry, perhaps the book of the year

The circuit is straightforward: you pick up a novel - Manual investigation of Jedediah Berry, published by Adelphi - one begins to read it, and now it turns out that the same book we have in hand is also one of the key elements of fiction, that its chapters, the ones that we read are the same ones who read the stars and, at least in one case, the main character and the reader read the same page (106) at the same time. As if the huge golden eye that stands on the cover of the novel hypnotic (and namesake of the manual in the plot) had transported us into another dimension, wonderfully metaliterature. And this is just the beginning, because then the book by Berry - New York thirties who made his debut with this work - subject to a number of surprises that accompany the already confused reader into a parallel world made other parallel worlds and dreamscapes where an obscure clerk, Charles Unwin, unwittingly finds himself catapulted on the scene with the unprecedented role of detective to solve a mystery - probably the mystery of mysteries - and all this just to be able to play back and ordered his maniacal work of the copyist.

The story is incredible, obsessive and surreal, but as he says at one point Unwin, the devil is in the details and in the case of Berry are extraordinary details that give Investigation Manual a visionary force Kafkaesque: the cramped conditions in sub-employees who work in sleep, the huge building that houses the powerful and dark Agency the hotel rooms where he lives the ambiguous Cleopatra Greenwood. Always with such situations Magrittian (the giant, the small anomalies of scenarios seemingly "normal") and a homage to the classic role of the detective, for whom spend the name of Philip Marlowe is as obvious as a duty.

As he wrote in Corriere della Sera Livia Manera, we are facing "a reinterpretation of Process of Kafka, a nod to Calvino's Invisible Cities and a reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland , without losing sight of the hard-boiled style of Raymond Chandler. "But, next to a reading experience that renews the genre of detective story , the strength of Berry's novel is also in the reflection behind the plot, and never as in this case the parallel with Franz Kafka is irrelevant. It is in fact talking of power and its relationship with the mind people, control and the ever unfathomable closeness of those who present themselves as the guarantor of order and disorder, who makes the promotion of its mission. Between these two poles, only seemingly irreconcilable, it moves a crowd of sleepwalkers who seems to be out of the best works of filmmakers like Terry Gilliam visionary and Jean-Pierre Jeunet and that, on closer inspection, has the face of all of us.

Among the many possible quotes from the novel are those essential importance of the mystery ("If the detective fails to keep its secrets, then it will never be able to learn the secrets of others"), but it also stands out, given by a supervisor at that point already dead, what can be called a small anthropology of marriage: "In all the occasions when I met my wife on the ground, so to speak, I was always amazed by the magnitude of current events. I must admit that it scares me a bit '. "It is quite possible that at this end of 2009, Manual investigation can be transformed in our hands in the book of the year .

Eye Colour Of The Vikings

BUT WHICH THE MYSTERY SECRET?!

The Law of Attraction seems to "attract" more people who seek happiness.
It exploded for the big (so to speak) the public with the book "The Secret" (if you imagine such a success I would have to write it).
However, I wonder who the millions of readers have noticed that the boring priest in their parish house, which carefully avoided the sermons, he suggested the "secret" for years, that I wonder how many have noticed that the much-trumpeted new Law of Attraction is nothing more than what has been discussed for millennia: prayer! (Or magic)
So what's new? that prayer working?
has only replaced the word "God" with "Universe," the word "faith" with "concession", et voila, the best-seller is bell'e'pronto!
It works, but its usefulness, in my opinion, it is only to understand the nature of the event, and not to drive it ... why so you can not, is an illusion. About
pilot? which in turn is a thought expressed by some other plan launched by someone, which he in turn is a manifestation of a thought etc etc.
know the secret and focus to otter this or that, and I can get it because the reality is manifest thought ... but who is concentrating, not thinking too obvious?
The man who uses the Secret is a bio-machine that attempts to reprogram its neurons with an electrical stress concentration.
But the limited intelligence of this bio-machine called the man who thinks he's the one who has a will, you forget that the white man can not occur if there is no black to support him, and that sooner or later, when the consciousness-intention "loosens its grip" (eg sleep), it (the black) will re-manifest, the law of equilibrium (law no doubt more useful to consider and respect).
days ago I had a dream where I was re-reading a comment I left on a forum, and I realize (again in the dream) that my commentary is not centered Forum coll'argomento nothing, but which, years before, when I wrote it, thinking it was something related, I made a mental history (in the dream) of the whole series of thoughts, feelings and responses that readers have been reading ( just like right now: D)
I was always in my dreams, a sense of contrast annoying thinking that I had made a whole history of mind for years ... Instead I had the wrong forum, and readers do not understand avrevano a tube in that space because there was talk of another.
Suddenly I woke up half asleep and I "saw" how the mind builds everything according to what I wanted to believe, and all life was like that, "comment" is not relevant to the Royal speech, upon which we build but also stories that weave reality.
The logic is built to match, but we ourselves create, and to believe then, let these beliefs are crystallized and represent us.
It 's true that we are born in a network that is woven, but the fact of finding themselves in does not mean that's the reality.
It 's a common dream of a single mind, and we're all thinking ... we are all "out of the speech" ... is a fictional tale that perfectly represents our inner immaturity ... what we like to imagine ourselves.
If, in the waking state, I give a date at 8 to a person, my mind will find that person at 8 am waiting for because it believes what it wants and the creator of DREAM.
The memories and the world are structured and adapted to what the mind wants to be reality.
I can not remember if the text message that I wrote years ago that person is now dead, I sent it to him or not, if I gave up and wiped ... if we think more deeply not even know well if I had dreamed at night that I wanted to send a message, or send really wanted to wake up ... So what is the "substance" with which I can consider this memory? I sent the message or not?
There is no way to verify the "reality" of the facts, for the simple reason that no facts are real.
It 's my memory appears to determine what and who I believe to be alive, and it depends on my energy structure, in my vibrational state, which is the mirror of the understanding I have of myself, the self (and I gather this is what my poor)
Matrix exists and is infinite ... perhaps divine (as adjective) ... maybe just ignorance that the divine self, or perhaps not even this, because Reality has no nature.

NOTHING

I sit and close my eyes ... I look at the mind ... thoughts ... some notes ... is to be aware ... then the consciousness almost goes away ... "I nearly fell asleep" I think, when I suddenly alert, noting that in that moment of semi-sleep had produced many, many pictures, but jagged and chaotic, impossible to put them in human logic.
And where was I? I was there? yes I was, without knowing it (but it is only a deduction resulting from intoxication by Indian philosophy of mind) ... and now that instead the focus points, where are they? ... are there? Yes there are, but I do not know where!
I have nothing but chaos, which at times seems ordered and perceptions ... I have nothing ... I do not myself ... I have everything, but I can not have me.
I am aware of what we call mind, a chaos of images continued ... a machine that works tirelessly sensations, sounds, dialogue and anything else you can feel ... pieces that, in the darkness of the unconscious self-seeking, organize and become stories and dreams.
All imagery comes from a place that I have available ... flows spontaneously from a point which for me is nothing. Nothing I'm
this, I intuit! What
be funny that is not accessible to my possession or observation.
are pure potential that unknown that generates all I know, or I'm going to know.
Every memory that seems strange in already contained the truth ... everything that seems to know for the first time, already had.
All that we come from ... inaccessible place, the unknown!

However, it has the power of knowledge of what it has itself produced by his "barren womb" (as he would call a friend of mine).
observes, that point is zero, my own ignorance that takes shape, and turned in my presence, in the 'be aware' ... a consciousness that, dissatisfied and unhappy, it generates the question "Who am I ?"... an unanswered question.
is not a comforting to see that all you can, you will know, including your conscious existence, is not you, but something that has been generated by a null ... from that that you can not know because it's really nothing for the conscience!
be alone let slip this search-consciousness in this blessed Nothing, but how could I ever do?!

HERE

what is here?
A search for the House, the Truth, the Real.
Here is an inevitable decline in perceptions of continuous and relentless change.
HERE occurrence of memories, feelings, yearnings for happiness that cause questions about House, Truth and Reality.
Then, here, all this fades into oblivion and take place histories, perceptions always inevitable in the continuous and relentless change, but this time without questions about their appearance or function, or how they can control or direct, without seeking the House, the Truth, the Real or why they are here.
But this is found here only when the series of perceptions appear to have disappeared again, along with all the questions and research, and logic says that quell'uccelletto HERE HERE that was seen on that branch before that appear and disappear other stories with no questions and research, now here are seen in the branch, and then something changed and here was absent in the chaos of perceptions that include applications and research ... but to say that that is the same bird mean just that, a memory, said that the shape is seen on that branch is perceived as being identical to that of memory.
Beyond the research questions and therefore, no certainty, no explanation, no purpose or destination, apart from what he said his nephew Donald Duck:
" I AM HERE".

The two revolts Camus, today more than ever

We live in a society of fear , a company whose mission is to make people desperate, and was based on lies. suffocate crushed by "those who are convinced that they are absolutely right" and these extremists on both sides, tragically sinking humanity. There is no doubt that these reflections fit well with our present situation, living in an Orwellian sort of paradise, besieged as we are fear of diversity and the resurgence of the ideology, albeit in disguise, who returns to preach absolute truths. Yet they are phrases that Albert Camus wrote in the late forties, thinking of a world that history books tell us to be very different from, light years away from our post-modern pleasure-seeking and paranoid. These are phrases that, taken from the film - indeed slight - the time that separates them from us, forcing us to reflect on how little has changed about how little there is released, about what still stands is the lesson of Camus. And its more radical and political lesson deals with a paper released by the publisher of the libertarian types Eleuthera, edited by journalist and writer Vittorio Giacopini that recalls the reader's political writings of the Nobel Prize in Oran and raises, unequivocally, its call to revolt.

"I so we are facing," he insists, through various texts of Camus appeared in the decade 1946-1956 as the search for truth is probably the most subversive act you can imagine. It does so with a clear interpretation of surprising clarity and adherence to the reality in which we live. Camus speaks of the fear that surrounds us ("The long dialogue between the men - wrote in 1946 - has now stopped. And, of course, a man who can not convince a man that is scary") and accurately describes the return of "absolute ideas and no shades of messianism." The war on relativism, considered by some to be the principle of all evil, the worries related to international terrorism and the economic situation, the re-emergence of authoritarian states in the global scene today, as then the trap of the rejection of dialogue is just around the corner. "For anyone who can live - are still words of Camus - only through dialogue and friendship of men, this silence is the end of the world." And at the end of the world, man, if only for defense and survival instinct, opposed his revolt. "All of them - writes Camus - believe that their truth is suitable to make the happiness of mankind. Then, however, the conjunction of good will produce this hellish world in which people are still killed, harassed, deported, which is preparing for war and it is impossible to say one word without being immediately betrayed or insulted. " The rebellion, intellectual and humanistic Camus lies in the enormous courage to utter the "word".

rebel in the name of humanity, therefore, to give vent to that in "The Man in Revolt" Camus called "the movement of life itself" that "can not be denied without giving up living." It 'a revolt vitalistic and vital He speaks of "love and fertility," and that is fighting against "the revolution of the calculation, preferring an abstract man to man meat, to be denied as many times as needed and provides precisely the resentment instead of love." We consider our time, our society and its role within it - in politics, at work, but also in family relations - resentment. Deny it, fight against it, challenge him with a revolt that wants to defeat represents a radical challenge of wide scope. But how? Camus, in the writings collected by Giacopini, a road to the show: "Today those who are fighting the silence and fear, and with them causing the separation of the minds and souls. Those who must be defended are the dialogue and communication of all human beings. " Why the fear, for example, is certainly fueled by the media and journalism. But, at least in part, each of us has the opportunity to reject the practice of moral life. And a sum of small changes, which are behaviors or attitudes, can give rise to a long wave that one day, perhaps, could be a harbinger of news.

Albert Camus, however, in his art class, also wrote about another form of rebellion, much more closely linked to that policy, but distinct. The quiet revolt of Dr. Rieux in "The Plague, "that extraordinary apologia of self, sometimes wrongly viewed as a quietist, who personifies the doctor Oran blatantly and without fanfare in one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century. The disease is born without any apparent cause and it seems it can not be beat, as seen from our vantage point in the twenty-first century, is what most postmodern of you can imagine. And the recipe Rieux, gray - anti-ideological, sometimes insignificant bourgeois hero - is something that has, please allow me the chance, the revolutionary power of Christ's message: "This is not about heroism - the fiery says Rieux Rambert - it is of honesty. E ' an idea that can make you laugh, but the only way to combat the plague is honesty. " Just imagine: while they advertise all their Truth, an ordinary man offers a different approach based on honesty, that is not what is lacking in the rogues but a category of thought. It may be the way to liberation, a way for that change of heart which was also the object of political reflection of Camus, a word of advice for humanism.

renounce the truth, to settle for a less bombastic honesty, strictly with or lower case can also be an antidote to a society in which Big Brother, that's true, smiles winking all the media and the Kingdom of Heaven is promised to us on eBay. It 's true, often seems to us that the plague has eroded all that there are more ways out. But Camus is very clear: "Just this - writes in a text of 1948 - I can not forgive the contemporary society to be a machine to make people desperate. [...] The world in which I live is repugnant to me, but I feel solidarity with the people who suffer. " And his is an act of solidarity intellectual revolt that declines in both the pages of indignant complaint of amazing clarity and in those of "The Plague".

Black Baby Doll Dress

From "I Am That" dialogues with Nisargadatta Maraj

Maharaj: Where are you from?

Questioner: I am an American, but mostly live in Europe. I am just in India. I was in two ashram in Rishikesh, where I practiced the breathing techniques and meditation.

Maharaj: For how long?

Questioner: Eight days in an ashram, in the other six. There was good and I left. Then, for three weeks, I have been with the Tibetan lamas. But they were stuffed formulas and rituals.

Maharaj: Overall, what was the outcome?

Questioner: Of course an increase of energy. Before going to Rishikesh, I fasted and followed a diet of natural medicine hospital in South India Pudukkotai has helped me a lot.

Maharaj: Perhaps the increase in energy was due to improved health.

Questioner: I do not know. But the consequence is that they began accendermisi as to fires in various parts of the body and began to sing and hear imaginary voices.

Maharaja: Now that you're looking for?

Questioner: What we all? Some truth, a handful of certainties, a genuine happiness. In the schools of self, people are talking about awareness that we end up believing it's the same ultimate reality. Is that so? The body is controlled by the brain, which is illuminated by consciousness, which, in turn, is supported by the awareness is there anything beyond?

Maharaj: As you know that you are aware?

Questioner: I feel it. I can not explain it otherwise.

Maharaj: When you draw the path from the brain to consciousness, through consciousness, you realize that the sense of duality persists. If you go beyond awareness, enter the non-duality, where there is no purchase of study, but only pure being, you can also call non-being, if you want to be one particular thing.

Questioner: Your pure being is the universal, all?

Maharaj: All, all, involve an amount of detail. In the pure idea just be missing in particular.

Questioner: What is the relationship between pure being and the particular?

Maharaj: What relationship can there be between what is and what is merely appearance? O between the ocean and its waves? The real is the unreal appear and disappear. The succession of fleeting moments creates the illusion of time, but the timeless reality of pure being does not move, because each movement requires a motionless background: and it is itself the background. When you find it in you, learn also that he never lost the pure being, which does not have to divide or separate. But if you look for in consciousness, you will not find. Do not look anywhere, because it contains nothing. And he, on the contrary, everything contains and manifests. Similar to the sunlight that makes everything visible, remaining invisible.

Questioner: What do I need to know that reality is not in consciousness? Where do I look? As the grab?

Maharaj: Very simple. If you ask what is the taste of your mouth, you can not answer that: neither bitter nor sweet, nor bitter nor sour. Ie. is what remains after all of those flavors is dissolved. Similarly, when all the reactions and the distinctions have disappeared, there remains the reality.

Questioner: I see a prisoner of an illusion perpetuated. I see how it could play out: if not, would have ended long ago. The opportunities I have had in the past were exactly. I own the future holds. This that could not happen does not happen. Or, if it ever happens, would not last. The miserable condition in which we find ourselves after millions of years of existence on earth, he promises, at best, the ultimate extinction, or, at worst, the threat of a senseless and endless repetition.

Maharaj: What evidence do you have that your state has this ever? What were you like before you were born? As you will be after death? What do you know your mind, even if ignorant as you were before waking up this morning? From what little I know of your present state, draw conclusions for every time and place. Maybe it is all a dream, destined to last forever.

Questioner: Call it a dream does not change the situation. Without doubt, it is sad to be mad and crazy to be sad, but I repeat the question: what could I still hope that eternity behind me did not have off? And because my future should be different from the past?

Maharaj: In your alteration, projecting a past and a future and take them for real. In reality, you know only the present. Why do not you linger there, instead of querying a fictional past and a future? your present has no beginning nor end. Passes a flash. Try to understand its origin and its goal. And you'll find the timeless reality that lies behind it.

Questioner: Why have not I done this before?

Maharaj: As each wave sinks into the ocean, so every time returns to the origin. The construction is to discover the source and remain there.

Questioner: Who made the discovery?

Maharaja: The mind.

Questioner: It is the answer?

Maharaj: I find it has no questions, questions that do not need.

Questioner: There is birth. There is death. As a witness to appear?

Maharaj: A child is born: a man dies: events in time.

Questioner: The witness is progressing? The knowledge evolves?

Maharaj: What you see may change when illuminated by an awareness, but the object is changing, not light. The plant grows in the sunlight, but the sun no. Both the body and the witness are immobile, but they appear to move when they are designed.

Questioner: All that moves and changes is not that 'I am. But there really need the 'I am?

Maharaj: Who needs them? There - at the time - had a beginning. end.

Questioner: What is when it stops?

Maharaja: What is not subject to going and coming. It is the mind with its eternal greed, which invented the ideas of progress and evolution toward perfection. Disturb the order and theorizes, destroys and seeking security.

Questioner: Is there any progress in fate, karma?

Maharaj: Karma is not only a reserve of energy released, of unfulfilled desires and fears misunderstood, constant supply of new desires and fears. But it can not be always the case. Discover the true cause of fear, estrangement from you, and desires, nostalgia for yourself, and your karma will dissolve like a dream. Life passes between the earth and sky. Nothing changes, only the bodies grow and decay.

Questioner: What is the relationship between the person and the witness?
Maharaj: There is no relationship because they are all one. Do not separate them and do not look for the relationships between them.

Questioner: If the observer and the observed are one, why have two?

Maharaj: Fascinated by names and forms, which are by nature diverse and multiple, you can distinguish and separate what is a. The world is full of diversity, but if you feel strange and scared, that's a misunderstanding. The body has reason to fear, not you.

Questioner: At the bottom there is an anguish of being organic radical, an instinct of flight, which takes many shapes and distorts the thoughts and feelings. From where?

Maharaj: It is a state of mind induced by the idea I-am-the-body. Remove the instilling I opposed the idea-not-have-the-body. Both are false but the one drives the other. Convince yourself that there are ideas that are yours, and that all will come from outside. You have to probe inside yourself, become your object of meditation. Yoga is the effort to understand yourself. Become a yogi, devoted his life to this task, ponder, investigate, search, until you get to the root of the error and truth behind it.

Questioner: meditator, the person or witness?

Maharaj: Meditation is the deliberate attempt to move into more states higher consciousness, to transcend the art of moving the focus of attention on more subtle levels, without losing the grip on those already explored. It's a bit like controlling death. At the lowest level to examine the social circumstances, customs and habits, the physical environment, the position of the body and breath, the senses and perceptions, the mind with its thoughts and feelings to catch up and dominate ' whole mechanism of the personality. Reach the final stage of meditation, when the sense of identity goes beyond the 'I-am-that, beyond the' I am, beyond the 'I-am-the-witness, even more than the' be there. up to the pure being impersonally staff. But we need a force overtime. It is a limited-time employment. Reduce interest and what you do to essential needs, and focus all energy and all your time in breaking the wall that was built around mind you. Believe me, I do not regret it.

Questioner: How do I know that my experience is universal?

Maharaja: At the end of meditation know everything directly, no need for evidence. As each drop has the flavor of the ocean, so every moment has the taste of eternity. The definitions and descriptions encourage research, but must exceed in order to grasp what is indefinable and indescribable except in negative terms. After all, even
universality and eternity are just concepts, identifying what is not depends on the space and time. The reality is not a concept, nor is its manifestation. Take care of your mind, Please remove the distortions and impurities. Once you've tasted your true self, you will meet him everywhere and at all times. To achieve this it is so important. Once you know, I do not get lost again. But you have to give you an opportunity with the intense meditation, untiring.

Questioner: Specifically, what should I do?

Maharaj: Focus your mind and heart on 'I am, ask yourself who it is, it is, what is its origin, its source of' energy and meaning. It is very similar to digging a well. Get rid of everything that is not water until you reach the spring.

Questioner: How will I know that I move in the right direction?

Maharaj: Your devotion will increase, as well as the clarity and firmness in purpose.

Questioner: For us Europeans it is very difficult to be quiet. The world overwhelms us.
Maharaja: Oh, no, you also dream. We differ only in the content of dreams. You pursue perfection in the future. We want it now. Only that which is limited and imperfect. The Unlimited is already perfect. You are perfect, but do not know. Getting to know you and you will discover wonders.
